World Listening Day - Update

world listening day map
sometimes during the last 2 days, while listening to and organizing the incoming sounds for the WLD, it turned into a radiophonic experience: (a)live, present, connecting. 9h material so far, i think this is a good start.

World Listening Day - Update

since yesterday, various sounds dedicated to the WLD have arrived at the radio aporee soundmap. while the first idea was to get a sound snapshot from that particular day, i've also included the ones sent earlier, since some may not be able to record and upload just today (which, besides, lasts 48 hours until it's gone into the past...). dedication vs. definition...

check the project's page at http://aporee.org/maps/projects/worldlisteningday for the latest contributions. i'll update the site as new sounds arrive, stay tuned... if you miss something, let me know.

World Listening Day 2010

i'd like to point you to the proposal for the first World Listening Day
next sunday. from the website:

---
You are invited to participate in the first World Listening Day, which
happens on Sunday, July 18, 2010. The purposes of World Listening Day are:

* to celebrate the practice of listening as it relates to the world around us, environmental awareness, and acoustic ecology
* to raise awareness about issues related to the World Soundscape Project, World Listening Project, World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, and individual and group efforts to creatively explore phonography
* to design and implement educational initiatives which explore these concepts and practices
---

you'll find the press release and further information at
http://www.worldlisteningproject.org/?p=667

radio aporee participates in this event, and asks you for help in creating a world wide "sound snapshot" of this specific day. if possible, please send an audio recording from your actual location, or other places of your interest. i'll then create a dedicated project page on the aporee map for the hopefully numerous contributions... besides of having a nice documentation, i'm really intrigued by the idea of listening to the sounds of a particular day, around the world... hope it works.

website: http://aporee.org/maps/
file format: mp3, 128 - 320kbit, 44 or 48kHz
size: max. 25MB

in case of questions, please let me know.
best, u
